1. Take a couple pictures off the wall that have been there for more than a year or two - see if there's a difference between the paint color behind the picture and the surrounding wall.
2. Move your sofa or chairs away from the spot they've been for years in front of the window.  Check out the difference in color!
3. Look at the back of any chair or sofa sitting under a window.  It may be either faded or deteriorated from the sun.
